What this site keeps, and what it does not.

Storywell is a public book-idea generator run by Stewart Ferris. There are no accounts, no logins, and no mailing list.

What is collected

When you compose an idea, the genre, tone, and any themes, locations or notes you type are sent to this site’s server and on to the xAI API so a synopsis or contents list can be written. That brief is used to produce the reply. It is not added to a user file, because there isn’t one.

A visit tally in the footer is stored in your own browser (local storage). It is not sent to a server and is not a public counter of other people’s visits.

If you email [email protected], that correspondence is ordinary email, not a record kept by these pages.

Cookies and similar

These pages do not set first-party tracking cookies. Third parties may set cookies if you follow a link or if a service they run loads:

• Amazon Associates. Shop links to Amazon.co.uk use the tag stewartferris-21. Links to Amazon.com use the tag upcottstudios-20. If you click through, Amazon may use cookies to attribute a sale. As an Amazon Associate, Stewart Ferris earns from qualifying purchases.
• Companion studios. Cards on the studios page open separate sites. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
• Fonts. Type is loaded from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com).
• Share buttons. Icons at the foot of each page open X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky, WhatsApp or your email app only when you choose to use them.
• Advertising. This site is registered with Google AdSense (publisher ID pub-4446639715209525). If ads are shown, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure them. You can manage ad personalisation in Google Ads Settings.

Children

Storywell is written for adults who write or work in publishing. It is not aimed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the EU you have rights under UK GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018, including access, correction, erasure, and objection to processing that relies on legitimate interests. Because this site does not keep a user file, there is usually nothing stored here to retrieve. If you believe a third party named above holds data about you from a visit or a click, their own policy is the place to start. You can also write to [email protected]. If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page will change.
